MODULAR WIRING SYSTEMS COMPLETES BBC PROJECT IN A WEEK!

MWS logoModular Wiring Systems has completed a project to design and supply a modular wiring system for the new extension to BBC’s Broadcasting House in Portland Place, London. The New Broadcasting House Project is the BBC’s largest capital development project ever.

The aim is to create a dynamic and flexible 21st Century broadcast centre which will be the hub of the BBC’s national and international live output.  The first phase of refurbishing the existing building has been completed and Phase 2, which involves building an impressive glass extension, is well underway.
Modular Wiring Systems has completed its work on the new extension with design, manufacture and supply of a modular wiring system incorporating Mains Distribution Boxes and home runs with integrated data cabling, fan coil units and Lighting Control Modules.  The complete project was undertaken by Modular Wiring Systems in just one week – an incredible feat by any means.
Paul Evans of Phoenix Electrical, the M&E Contractor on this project, is pleased with the exceptional effort put in by Modular Wiring Systems and the end result: “they performed very well and it’s a good system”.
Phoenix Electrical decided to use a modular system as it provides considerable savings on labour costs and material.  Unlike traditional fixed installations, which are labour intensive, offer little in flexibility and remain costly, modular wiring systems allow for a complete installation, from the distribution board to the furthest point of a circuit, by simply connecting the system components together.  Modular Wiring Systems is the leading company in this field, with over 15 years experience.
The New Broadcasting House Project is due for completion in 2012 and will be home to 36 radio studios, 23 radio continuity studios, six TV studios, two central control rooms and 60 edit / graphic suites.
